About Wisconsin Monologues

A safe space to be heard and understood.

There are many identities that make up UW-Madison's campus. From racial minorities, to first generation students, to the LGBTQ+ community, and many more, these students are present and contribute to the success of this campus. Yet, there is also a lack of representation of these minorities in classes, with faculty, and on campus in general, creating a campus climate where many feel like they have no voice, no platform.

Welcome to your platform.

The purpose of the Wisconsin Monologues is to give a space where minority students can share their positive, negative, funny, sad, happy, and/or exciting stories in a space where they can feel validated and understood. Through anonymous submissions, real life narratives will be collected, paired with volunteers, and read to the general public during a hosted event. The 3 pillars of the Wisconsin Monologues are awareness of the triumphs and struggles of minority students, community building as stories are shared, and education that can be used to create real change on campus.

We want to hear what's really going on!

Kendall Newman

Kendall Newman is a current sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in legal studies and history. From Maryland, Kendall has always had a passion for social justice and seeking to build representation in places that lack such. During her time on campus, Kendall has seen and experienced the positives as well as the difficulties of being a minority and hopes to bring a platform of awareness while empowering her peers.
